      Wow!!! If Earl slides right up the coast a very large percentage of the nations population coud be heavily effected.  A cat 3 or 4 centered right along the coast would cause huge problems for a lot of big cities including DC.  And the tail og the dog (coastal Maine) could be wagged pretty hard.
