Hi I just found this site. I’m happy I did. It’s nice to see so much care and support happening. I wish you all well. So, I suppose the title says it all. 2 of my fingernails have a line running down the center. I’ve noticed 1 recently and the other has gotten wider and slightly darker. I’m mildly concerned after consulting dr Google which I know isn’t the greatest thing to do.
Both lines are on my right hand. One is my thumb and the other is on my pinkie. Neither are particularly dark or wide. Just odd I suppose as I feel they came out of nowhere and are mildly changing their appearance.
Does anyone have any experience with such a thing and should I be concerned?
Thank you for your time.
Poppy

Hi Poppy,
The ONLY way to tell is to get it looked at and based on the recommendation of your dermatologist, have it biopsied. Dark streaks in your nail bed (not caused by trauma), should be looked at by a derm. Could be absolutely nothing, but only one way to tell. My wife is Hispanic (and a derm nurse!) and had dark streaks in her nail bed that she had removed. Turned out not to be anyth8ng of concern, but both she and the melanoma specialist agreed it needed to be biopsied. Good luck!
