    Hello,

I recently was diagnosed with colon cancer and had the tumor removed. They screened me for genetic testing, but the only thing that came back positive is the CDKN2A gene (associated with melanoma or pancreatic cancer). I have a strong family history of polyps and colon cancer, but my uncle (who is on that side of the family) also has melanoma. Since this is a new gene of uncertain significance to my issue, I was wondering if anyone else with this gene has also family history or relations to colon cancer or polyps. They will be sending me and my family for research, but I am curious to see if anyone has a similar story.

    Thank you!

Hi Anon, I’m sorry for your recent diagnosis, it’s always tough when something is brought up medically and it’s life changing.. Like yourself, (possibly) I to have a Melanoma tumor in my colon, the Sigmoid section 18cm in from my gate (anus) haha, it’s about 1 inch or slightly larger, colonoscopy confirmed positive Atypical cells for Melanoma through SOX-10 and S100 staining, but negative for Melan-A. I have yet to have its mutation tested, Im sure it will occured after the 15th Aug when I see a second opinion oncologist (I have Kaiser) in Riverside Calif. He may be my treating doctor now that my primary oncologist stopped All surgeries & Immunal therapy due to disease progression. Read my bio, you’ll learn more..
Take care, keep us posted Anon, you might want to change your MRF name to a “Nickname” rather then Anonymous example: SunnyDay1969 etc, there’s like a hundred Anonymous’s here, kinda hard to differentiate between them all…take care…
