I am Stage 4 and have had two combo treatments. Right after the 2nd treatment (within about 4 hours), I developed what turned out to be Bell's Palsy. No one seems to be able to say it was a direct side effect of the treatment but I'm wondering if any others have experience Bell's Palsy during treatments. Thanks for any information.

Hi Linda
It is possible that this is related tothe combo and caused by an inflammation of the nerve. It runs in my sisters family- her father in law had it in his 50's and her son had a short lived episode this autumn. The facial nerve has little space on route to the face and it it becomes inflamed the nerve can be pinched by the bony bhard structures leading to the condition. Treatment- high dose steroids- just the same as for the majority of other immune related adverse events. Think itis probably pretty unusual compared to say peripheral neuropathy- but ipi nivo does cause neurological side effects and I would bet on the combo as your likely cause.
see this – page 9/14
Bell's palsy reported as IRAE – of CTLA4 drugs ie ipi….Link discusses ovarian cancer- but it is the same drug– so place your bets,,,
Best of luck with your treatment
