One more trial to add to your placebo list, and by the way glad you did your annual ASCO posts!!! https://www.onclive.com/web-exclusives/fda-approves-adjuvant-pembrolizumab-in-stage-iii-melanoma

Looking over (briefly) some of the stuff that has been posted from this year’s ASCO conference, it looks like most of the newer trials are of the reuse and recycle variety. In other words, let’s try something that we know works (Nivo, Pembro, Yervoy) and combine it with something that hasn’t worked so well in the past as monotherapy. Maybe, there will be some synergy and a slight increase in benefit. At least, that’s my interpretation. Like you, I think this is most likely a waste of time, money and lives. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like the next superstar drug is coming out anytime soon (I think I recall one of the rock stars, maybe Jason Luke, saying that recently), so this is the best we can hope for. For now.

Thanks for posting Bubbles!…Hello Richinlife2! How are you? Im ok now, read my latest post for more on my update…
The whole Interferon thing scares the heck out of me cuz my team seems to mentions it as my only other choice of meds if my current Opdivo continues to decline in its ability to ward off new tumors, im only on it now because its stopping my lung tumors from growing..Isnt IL-2 Or Prolukins the same med? They had said i would stay in the hospital for 5 days then go home Sat & Sun and comeback Monday to Friday again doing this regement 3 times ( 3 week gig) i cant imagine doing this for one, anf two, in my research, interferon has very poor results especially with my track record of past attempts with topline immunal therapies first Pembro, then Ipi and now Nivo with medium to poor results. But, to combine it with immunal drugs i dont know, our Melanoma scientist are fast at work i HOPE and somethings gotta pop up quick, like NOW!

I’m not entirely sure of your question, Mike. But IL-2 is NOT the same as interferon. IL-2 is something that does work for some in melanoma world! Charlie S is one who had some good years after this treatment. It is a tough ride, but can have real benefits. I have a section on it in this primer: https://chaoticallypreciselifeloveandmelanoma.blogspot.com/2017/08/melanoma-intel-primer-for-current.html

Further, I posted it a page back….but there are some new things coming out of ASCO this year (often combined with current therapies) that are ongoing now, that you might speak with your docs about. I covered them here: http://chaoticallypreciselifeloveandmelanoma.blogspot.com/2019/06/new-stuff-treatment-options-and-current.html

        Hope this helps. Celeste
