To make a long story short, in 2016 I was diagnosed with 7 melanoma tumors in my lungs. I started the combo ipi/nivo within 2 weeks. The second week after the first dose I was happy when both arms broke out in a rash because I knew my immune system was responding. Luckily for me the rash lasted several years but never itched. In 1 year all 7 tumors were gone and I continued treatment for another year. I had 5 doses of ipi and 52 doses of nivo. I continue to have CT scans every 6 months and at 7 years of NED. I have had several new melanomas develop on my skin but all were in situ and were treated by MOHs surgery. I never questioned the choice of treatment because at that time for me is was risk side effects or die so it was an easy choice. There were many side effects, some are still with me today, but none were serious enough to stop treatment. I have to say I was lucky as my immune system reacted about as good as it could. I hope this provides hope for someone.
