I met with my Thoracic surgeon today and feel relieved yet still nervous for what lies ahead. Next Tuesday he will perform an EBUS, I didn't know but lymph nodes in my lung are enlarged. He will biopsy the nodes and hand them over to a pathologist in the OR and determine if it is MET or not. If it is MET they will leave the node in my lung as a marker for treatment. If the lymph nodes are negative a wedge resection will be done.

in essence more surgery is better then a little. I'm staying positive for the best outcome. Definitely sucks having to wait yet another week to determine what is going on.

      Hi Sam,

I had an EBUS only done this February. So they could do that in the Endoscopy suite insted of a full OR. I found the EBUS pretty straightfoward to go through, as I think should be normal for the procedure.

I had thoracic surgery (VATS) some years ago, they took some wedge resections, so I know that one takes a little longer to recover from. It was an overnight hospital stay for me.

      Good luck next Tuesday!

        Hi Sam,

Good luck with your surgery.   Sorry about the wait.

I had VATS/wedge resection surgery in October 2012.  I read the replies to your other thread and I hope your surgery is as 'easy' as some of the others.  If I were you I'd ask your surgeon what to expect in terms of pain/recovery.  Apperently my met was in a tough spot.  I was in the hospital for four nights and it took me a long time to recover.  I knew that it would take a while to get back to work because my (awesome) surgeon quipped, "It's gonna hurt."  I am not trying to scare you at all; it looks like I was the lucky one of the bunch and had the tough surgery/recovery.  Your surgeon should be able to give you specific details about what to expect.

        Good luck!

        Brendan
