    Hi Everyone,

My dad just started yervoy last week and last night had a crazy coughing attack.  He has lung mets but has not had any symptoms from the lungs before now.  Has anyone on Yervoy experienced this?  I'm hoping it's the drug working and causing a reaction and killing the mets!  Any thoughts?  I know probably too soon but I'm hoping!

I don't think it is too soon to expect some inflammatory changes in lung lesions. I had lung mets but did have a chronic, non-productive cough prior to treatment. My cough worsened the first few weeks of treatment with some reactive airway component requiring a bronchodilator (albuterol) for a few weeks. As the mets cleared, the cough cleared.

      Hello Ashley,

Please notify his oncologist as to this change.

It could be something other than the Yervoy or melanoma.  My husband actually had pulmonary embolisms as many people with cancer are more susceptible to them.  He could also have bronchitis or something that is not life threatening.  A quick call to his oncologist might help clear this up or maybe they would order a chest exray or something that would tell them what is the cause.

        Hi Judy,

Thanks for the concern.  I did call them this morning and they were not concerned based on his symptoms but said to continue to monitor him.  My mom is a nurse so she's on the case and knows all about PE's.
