Has anyone had experience of an elder person taking Yervoy? My mother had been taking Temador but her lung melanoma continued to grow so they stopped they. She did tolerate the Temador fairly well. I was just concerned with side effects as she was diagnosed last February with Stage IV Melanoma and hasn't really experienced any problems yet. Thank you.

My father (88 on Sunday) is stage IV but not doing any treatment. His melanoma appears to be growing fairly slowly albeit consistently. He's chosen quality and Yervoy has more side effects than he's willing to tolerate. The thing is, your Mom will never know until she tries how it will affect her. My Dad is experiencing no symptoms from the cancer itself and doesn't want to add side effects to his daily existence. All these drugs work differently on different people so there is no way to know whether she'll have mild or serious side effects. Temodar is typically handled well by most people so that doesn't give any indication for how she will handle Yervoy.
Best wishes,
Janner

janner, after our last doctor visit i left wishing my father would choose no treatment. i count as blessings his lack of pain, nausea, and he still has some apetite (which we tease along w/ medicinal marijuana tincture when need be). he had a bad reaction to zelboraf and is considering a lower dose. it's a hard choice. feel bad from the cancer, or from the cancer plus the meds. i pray for anyone in treatment that they have no serious side effects. i've started calling them side defects. sending love and prayers your way. xo ~m

my dad is 82 and was diagnosed with stage 4 in october. he tried zelboraf and had a horrible reaction to it. he may try again at a lower dose. his docs told him yervoy works too slowly for his situation. best of luck to you and your mama. xo ~m
