Hi, thank you for thinking of me.  I gave birth to a healthy, beautiful baby boy on Aug. 20. Prior to delivering the baby, I had my left anxilla removed.  It showed one additional node with possible micrometz.   It looks like my treatment options remain the traditional interferon or the peg interferon.  I'm dissatisfied with my oncologist, so I'm looking to start treatment with a new oncologist.  My oncologist won't pick up the phone and let me know what the recommended treatment plan is…rather, I have to wait to see him until mid-Sept.  Unacceptable!  I'm worried about starting the interferon in that I'm an emotional wreck–I cry at the drop of hat–which is very unlike me.  I've stayed away from the boards because of this.  I know it's the pregnancy hormones and lack of sleep, but it's been quite difficult.  Again, thank you for your well wishes.  Michelle

Between the giving birth, the stress of an uncommunicative Onc and the diagnosis of melanoma, why woould you not expect to feel mental stress and quite likely to tear up easily?  Do see about getting some anti-deprssion meds to start soon.  Don't ait to feel the depression that is very common from one on the interferon.   Sleeping pills (at least melatonin) might well be advised if you have someone that an help with the care  of the little  one while you get needed rest.  You have to take care of youself to be able to care for that new darling!

Another thing to look closely at is whether or not you plan on doing the high month or both the high month and the low dose 11 months afterwards.  I am sitting beside my daughter now, She is having a new baby any day.  I cannot imagine someone going thru the feelings and side effects of interferon for 12 months after her delivery.
