Hello, two days ago I got the very scary news that a mole removed was invasive melanoma 1A. It is .3mm with 0 miosis and the margins were not clear so the rest of it has to be removed. It is on the back of my arm. The dermatologist is recommending MOH’s procedure and I called and they cannot get me in until end of March. It seems crazy to wait that long. I have a second opinion scheduled for March 3. She keeps insisting that a biopsy is not needed of lymph because it is so early and that that is not the “standard of care”. But I have read the 1 out of 20 to 1 out of 50 people at this stage actually do have lymph node involvement. I know that is supposed to be reassuring but it isn’t to me. I am not a statistic and if I am that 1 I want to know now so I can do everything possible. How do I insist on this? Is it with the derm? With whoever does the rest of the excision? I am a single parent and am very freaked out. Any words of wisdom appreciated. I am in Washington, DC.
