We are happy to report that in the next couple of hours, the bulletin board changes that you recommended to us will go into effect.  They should be fully implemented by approximately 4pm EDT today.  This change will make the bulletin board topic posts sorted by the topic post date, rather than by the last comment date.  This will be the default.  You can also choose ascending or descending.  You will have the ability to sort it "the old way" (by comment post date), should you want to.  It will remember your preferences only if

thanks Shelly! I"m looking forward to seeing the changes.

I wonder if any consideration has been given to adding 'chat times' into the opening greeting of the chat room? Our old (MPIP) chat room had several times listed in the opening window, so that if people came in and found no one there, they would know to check back at certain times. They were different for every day.

This would give newcomers who want to chat the chance to come in at scheduled times, (for unhosted chats) and increase the odds that they will see someone else in there who wants to talk to them.

        Hi Dian,

I'm happy to edit that lead text on the chat room page, but if you could give me a little more direction on how you would like me to state the times, or how that worked on the old MPIP, that might be helpful.  We'd love to see the chat numbers go up, so just let me know.  You can shoot me an email or respond to this.  Looking forward to hearing back from you!

Hi Shelby, and may I appologize for accidentally calling you "Shelly"?

I'm not sure exactly how that entry greeting went. Something about the chat room being available at all hours for patients but that scheduled chats happen at:

Mondays Wednesdays and Fridays 8 am 12 pm and 4 pm and Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9 am 2pm and 6 pm.

All times are Pacific (that's the time zone the MPIP used)

As it turned out, there were people in that chat room every morning and every evening all the time back then. But I remember well that the first time I went in, it was mid day, and no one was there, but I saw that sign and went back that evening and had my first interactions with other patients, Charlie, Lynn from Oz and DebbieH and MarieM.

It was a while before I realized that some of those 'regular's didn't even remember that there were 'scheduled chats' (they bypassed the greeting by using a direct link to the chat room" But for a long time, I came in right at the exact time of those 'scheduled' chats, looking for people. I know that others did too.

I feel like even if we don't actually have a ~host~ in the chat room, if there are times listed, people are more likely to come on in.

I think it's an easy enough thing to try..to see if that room can be revived.

The last few months, I've posted a few times on the main board that I would be in the chat room at certain times, and several people have showed up at those times. So I think people want to chat, but too often go in and find the room empty. Maybe a simple time schedule like this would encourage people to revive that room.

I still go in almost every day when I am not out of town.

You can see what the greeting looked like here:

(I  bet that link will make some people nostalgic… 😉

Sniff…and when you click on the links-they work! I was reading old crock pot recipes on the Off topic.

HOW did you do that? Can you make  the "fun' board reappear ?
