    Hi guys

I am looking for some information but was not able to fine it anywhere.

    Hope someone has an idea.

In October 2015 I noticed a new big mole on my inner right tigh. It was around the size of a pencil eraser and dark brown.

Didnt worry too much until i read up on skin cancer. Was in Europe in December and had it checked by a dermatologist. He checked it with his tools and said it looks normal. He also shaved it of during the consultation. Now there was a tiny bit of black on it which kind of worried him and he wanted to have it checked in the lab. Since my health insurance does not count in Europe I asked him if it was really necessery. He agreed to shave it of and take another look at it. I left that day without the biopsy.

So, now im getting kinda paranoid and regret not having the biopsy done.

Im back home and want to a dermatologist the other day. Told her my story and concerns. Showed her pictures of the mole and she wasnt worried. However, she said we coulndt do a sking biopsy since the mole has been removed  completely.

Now my question is, can I still have this checked out? And how?

Im going back to another derm this week and probably want a skin biopsy. They should still be able to trace this if there was any cancer in it right?

    Looking forward to your advice.

    Thanks guys!

    Cheers

You have to face up to the fact that you cannot have the mole checked out because it has gone.

That is what the first dermatologist has told you. It may be what the second dematologist tells you.

I cannot answer your question about whether if cutting out the skin around the site of the mole and looking at it under the miscroscpe could tell an expert anything useful. This is the question you need to ask the dermatologist.

Don't you think that first dermatologist, the one in Europe, would have pushed you a lot harder for the mole to be sent to a lab if he had thought it was abnormal?

Thanks for the reply. Thats exactly what the second dermatologyst told me. She said there is no point in checking the skin. The first dermatologyst was not worried about the mole. It was elevated and from pictures it looks like SK but who can really tell. Thanks mate

Also, the mole was dark brown and pretty soft. When i first noticed it back in 2015 i tried to rip it off an actually got like a quarter of it detached from the skin. During the first conultation the derm said the he will see how it comes of (resitance or not) and then he will check again underneath. Thats what he did. And he said it was om.

Not sure what OM means (other than ocular melanoma) but it does sound a lot like an SK.  Some look like they can be peeled off.  Outwardly they can look a lot like melanoma but up close, derm's can usually see specific characteristics that say SK instead of melanoma. Really nothing you can do now except watch for pigment regrowth.  If something grow so back, have a biopsy.  Otherwise, move on and live and learn.

Sorry I meant he said it was OK since he was able to shave it of easily without any resistance. He then checked it again and said it is fine.

The things was flabby and soft, it didnt hurt either. I played with it alot cause it was annoying and ripped part of it of.

Yeah I get it nothing I can do. I wouldnt event worry about it but once you start googling things it drives your crazy.

Thanks a lot for your answers and input! Its much appreciated!

Since early skin cancer it’s found in the epidermis, the top layer of skin, a biopsy now would be of little use. You can do out but the odds of it returning any useful info works be extremely small.
