I've got 2 small lumps on my finger. I suspect them to be ganglion cysts. They are small, painless, flesh colored. My primary was almost 10 years ago (leg 1B).  I think it is highly unlikely that it is melanoma but it's in the back of my mind.  Melanoma would be blackened/ opened (etc.)… yes? This looks completely benign.  I have an annual appointment with my derm, but not until June.  Wondering if I should see him earlier?  Thanks for your thoughts all!

Please get them checked, most recurrences are subcutaneous. I pray that it isn't a recurrence but you should put your mind at ease and err on the side of caution. Good luck and prayers that they are truly benign.

From the legs to the fingers would be extremely unlikely – really goes against the grain… Or drainage patterns.  Look for the most likely explanation first.  Then look for zebras.  In this case, melanoma is really a zebra.

Black, opened, What RULE are you looking at the MELANOMA  MUST follow?  There are no rules.  Like Janner say ther are higher and lower liklihoods of occurances, but NO definites.  If it is changing get in as quick as possible.  It is unlikely to jump from legs to a finger, not impossible if in the blood supply
(would still be fairly rare), but very unlikely if it is in the Lymph channels.

I tried to respond to each of these posts, but I don't think they showed.  Just wanted to say thank you for taking the time to respond to my question. I'll have it checked out. It's so nice to have a place to go with questions. ๐Ÿ™‚  Take care all-
