I was diagnosed with stage 3 melanoma in Jan of 2015. I am a 70 year old married man with 3 children and just received my 1st of 4 immuno therapy infusions with 3 weeks in between treatments.looking to find support any where that I can through this journey. New to this site so just trying to find my way around.

      Welcome Tom,

It's not a place anyone of us would choose to be, but, you've come to a good place for info and support for those with melanoma.

I take it you're on Yervoy (IPI)? yes?  There are a lot of folks here who have been down that road.  If you've got questions, just ask.

      Shalom,

      Julie

Welcome to the club nobody wants to belong to.  Lots of folks here on Ipi so this is a good place to ask advice.  There is a search feature that you can do a search for things like "Ipi side effects" or other key words and probably find some good infromation.  Just curious if you are getting your ipi in the adjuvant setting or if you were stage III unresectable.  Hopefully you will cruise through Ipi with little to no side effects.  Some do.  I suggest you really familiarize yourself with the side effects so you can recognize them if they present themselves.  Many of the side effects are very manageable if caught early but if you let them get a running start they can become quite problematic.  Two in particular to keep an eye out for is colitis (diarhea, stomach pain) and hypophysitis (swelling of the pituitary gland that causes headaches).

      Good luck to you.

Good luck with yervoy. A friend of my aunt went through it when he was about 70 when it was a trial med. he's getting close to 80 now and doing fine with just 2 scans a year to keep an eye on things.

      Good luck to you.
