My husband Gail is 67 he found a lump in his groin. A bioposy proved to be melanoma. Surgery removed 9 nodes 6 which were cancer one unoperable. He signed papers just today to begin treatments which will start next Tuesday. He will be treated with ipilimumab ~ Yervoy.
1-12-12 Diarrhea last 24 hours doctor put him on Methylprednisolone ~ working.
1-23-12 Seconed Yervoy treatment so far only diarrhea been on and off Methylprednisolone, added Omeprazole to reduce stomach acid, bleeding.
2-14-12 Third Yervoy treatment and doing well sometimes goes for a week then back on Methylprednisolone.
3-5-12 Forth Yervoy treatment been doing good been off prednisolone for over a week no other side effects. Next Oncologist appt. in three weeks.
PET scan tumor about the same or a bit smaller. This PET was for base line taken just three days after starting treatment.
5-8-12 PET scan, CAT scan, MRI all show NO Melanoma! What he is dealing with right now is making his own steroids. He is on 15MG Hydrocortisone waiting for his own steroids to kick in.
11-20-2012 – CT Scan No sign of Cancer! Still takes Hydrocortisone 30gm per day he has adrenal fatique having been on steroids while on Yervoy. He is doing well and back to doing whatever he wants. We praise God!
May 6, 2013 – All scans clear! Praise the Lord!
November 7, 2018 – We thank God for another year of clear blood work. Gail is doing good doing everything he wants. Still on and always will be on steroids for the adrenal insufficiency now taking 25 grams and doing well.
