Diagnosed with probable Melanoma in situ in 2009 at the age of 25. My melanoma was on my abdomen, underneath my right breast. It was pretty unremarkable looking, but I noticed that my mole was gradually getting darker and felt slightly raised. My GP said he really wasn’t impressed but told me we could remove it if it was causing me to lose sleep at night. Good thing I have high anxiety and told him to go ahead and take it off! There was some discrepancy over the staging, but after a second lab evaluated my sample (while I waited with no news for an entire month…), the official diagnosis was Melanoma in situ. I had a WLE, with no SLNB. Several scares here and there with swollen lymph nodes, but no recurrence. I’d like to keep it that way 🙂
