Hi Tina,
Welcome, I will be at the 3 year mark this coming March stage 3a. My situation is very similar to yours, left under arm lymph node dissection. It took about a year before I had swelling in my arm and chest. I work with a lymphedema specialist on a regular basis and wear a compression shirt, sleeve, and glove. You may want to see a specials to get checked.
Take care, Ken

Hi EJJ,
I understand your concern about your boys! My father-in-law was the first to be diagnosed with Melanoma in our family. I was diagnosed with melanoma 5 months after him. He lost his fight in just under a year. I am at stage 3a now for just under 2 years. We have 3 adult kids, the 2 oldest have had A typical moles removed and the youngest is having a spot removed from his back next month. I fear for them greatly.

Hi Mybelle,
I started out in almost the same place as your son just under 2 years ago. At that time I was offered interferon, clinical trial, or watch and wait. I was not accepted for the trial so I chose the watch and wait. I did change my diet and exercise (walk 3.5 miles) 6 days a week. So far so good. I have a CT scan and blood work next week and meet with my oncologist the following week. Tough choice but I am sure he will make the right one for him.
Take care,
Ken

Lymphedema is a real concern to think about and understand what life impact it may have. I am 3a also and had SLN on April 8th 2014 with a CLND under my left arm in April 25th 2014. I did not take any other treatment. I noticed swelling in February 2015. I have been working with a Lymphedema Therapist. I do have it under control but wear a compression shirt, sleeve, and glove every day and a night sleeve every night.
It's a tough choice.
