In May 2011, a bump appeared on the left side of my husbands neck, originally thought to be an infection turned out to be a cancerous tumor. June 2011 he underwent a left radical neck disection to remove the tumor and salvary gland. Tumor was deep and approx. 3.00 in size. Approx. 8+ lymph node involvement. Metastic Melanoma. Began Interferon Alpha 2b treatments in July.
9/11 – Another “bump” in the neck area – biopsy and scans done
10/11 – The bump/tumor needs to be removed from his neck. Scans revealed that the melanoma has now spread to his lungs. Interferon is not working. Surgery scheduled for 10/13/11 to remove the tumor – heal for a couple weeks then begin IL2
