      Hi

I started Yervoy 8 days ago. I have not had any side effects except for some minor itching here and there.

SOme say the effects may not show up for weeks or months.

They put alot of emphasis on the diet to counter the intestinal issues . They have seen this the most often as a side effect. They also see nausea alot, which I had not read about.

I am basing my diet on the BRAF diet since it worked really well when I got radiation on my lower spine. Radiation in that area causes intestinal problems due to the location. I got through that without any problems, so I hope it works again.

Try and relax and I am sure you will do great !   Best wishes and better results to you !

      sincerely,

      Shane

I did not have many issues so I was fortunate. I had the itching as well and mine seemed to be worse because it was winter. I did get really exhausted the day of the treatment but it also made for a long day between travelling, labs, Dr, etc so I don’t know if it was just me or what. Otherwise it has been easy. I am getting ready to take my 2nd dose on the maintenance phase. I’ve been taking for 9 months now. Just pay attentionto yyour body .

Good luck!  Yes, pay attention to your body.  Especially the digestive system. Diarrhea  should be reported to your oncologist immediately.  If dealt with ASAP you may be able to continue with Yervoy treatment.  If you have to go to the ER, take all information you have about ipilimumab.  Do not eat any solid or red colored food while waiting for attention in the ER in case a colonoscopy is ordered.  I was not incomfortable at all during the infusions.   The people who work in the treatment rooms are wonderful.  They are there because they want to be there and want to help you in any way they can.  I slept through most of the niney minutes or took selfies with my tablet.  ood lucksmiley

The first dose did not produce any side effects. After the second dose, he started with the rash. Use Benadryl and lotion. After second dose, he started with diarrhea which as he figured out what foods to avoid it was manageable . No milk, ice cream, Thai  food,  chili, nuts, popcorn. Be sure to have immodium on hand and tums seems to help solidify bowels . You will br all right. Fatigue was not much of an issue for him.

        Hi,

Good luck with ipi.  I am one of several posters who had a swollen pituitary that eventually led to hypophysitis.  It seems to start around the third infusion.  I had a massive headache and my eyes hurt (the pituiatry is right behind your eyes).  Prednisone took care of the pain.  Just stay on top of it and call your doc immediately if you have a headache.  I also itched like crazy.  I did not have any intestinal issues.

        Good luck!
