    Hi All!

New here. Was wondering if anyone has had complications after surgery? I had melanoma on righ shin very near my knee. I have about a 4 inch long incision. Since surgery over a year ago I have knee pain, muscle tightness behind the knee and in hamstring. Also stinging pain at the bottom of the scar. Maybe nerve issues? Still have some numbness nearby the site. Had the surgeon and and orthapedist look at it last year and they all said it was fine. I'm very upset because prior to surgery I had no issues with my knee or leg. Now I can no longer run, do knee bends, lunges or much of anything. The leg is also slightly tight and swollen most of the time.  I had mohs surgery. Any feedback is welcome! Thank you!

I had one melanoma removed just below the inside of my knee but haven't experienced anything like what you are saying other than basic tightness and nerve regrowth.  I also had a wide excision on my back for an atyipcal lesion on my back.  That one was a beast.  No matter what I did, having a bra put pressure on that area drove me nuts.  Honestly, it took about 3 years and many clothing concessions for that to finally go away.  Nerves can be a beast.  Nerves heal at about a 1/2" a month so do take time.  But any time you have an incision that cuts tissue, there is the possibility of not regaining feeling on the skin.   I have a hard time imagining anything related to hamstrings being related directly to the surgery though.  (I've had 8 knee surgeries and am well versed in knee pain).  Have you considered doing some physical therapy to work on this?  Maybe some different muscle strengthening to work thru issues that might have deteriorated while you have had pain?  Compensating for this may have caused you additional problems.
