New Small Black Mole

Christmas night going to bed at my in laws I walked by a mirror and noticed a dark spot on the back of my arm. It looked like someone got me with a sharpie marker. I tried to wipe it off. I realized it wasn't coming off. I looked at it closer and it is a black, slightly raised, mole. I have never had a mole in this location. It is a new mole.  I have no moles that look anything close to the color black on my body. I haven't measured it yet, but it is bigger than a pencil point, maybe between 2 and 3 mm.

I am out of state and will be visiting with my PC and a dermatologist when I return home next week. I don't think I would've noticed this had I not been at my in laws, the mirrors in my bathrooms are much higher than theirs.

Has anyone's melanoma stared out as a small new black mole? Could you share your story, or link me to a story already in the forum.

    Thanks.

My husbands started the same, out of nowhere a dark mole.  I noticed it in January this year.  I told him to get it looked at.  By April it was getting larger.  He finally went in July and by then it was a stage IV.

Dont wait please.  Keep us updated and God Bless.

How large was it on the skin surface when he went in July?  That is scary.

My aunt is a nurse with the local cancer center, so I will get in with a melanoma specialist soon.

How is your husband doing today?

Dermatologist "scooped" the mole out and sent it for pathology. 7-10 days…

Get it checked oout, as you plan to do, but until it is biopsied, you can't be sure.  I also had a new black mole on my abdomen which didn't really get any sun.  It didn't look like any others and seemed to stand out in that location.  I had it removed and it turned out to be benign.  So until it is checked, don't spend undue time torturing yourself, although I know it is hard!

Understood. Thanks for the info.  I hope it isn't anything…

I enjoy photography, have anxiety and a magnifying lense for my iPhone. What looks like an oval from a distance is a mess up close.  If I do get find out it is melanoma, I will add all of my info and images to the site for others.
