    Hi everyone,

My best friend was just diagnosed with melanona. I don't know all the details but she is devasted. She is having an assessment and consultaiton tomorrow with a doctor.

I have offered to help and do research on options for the best treatment, best doctors that specialize in melanoma.

We are from Toronto Canada but want to know about any special clinics in the US as well. I heard the Mayo clinic is great?

I would appreciate any feedback as this would truly help my friend.

    Thank-you

Sorry for the challenges your friend is facing.  Sone of the top cancer hospitals in the US are MD Anderson (Houston), Memorial Sloan Kettering (New York), Dana Farber (Boston), Moffitt (Tampa).  There are several others – you can google US NEws and World Report Top Cancer Hospitals.  There are several more.  Hope this helps.

Hopefully Ed will chime in. He has been receiving the combo immunotherapy treatment as part of trial in Ottawa. It sounds like his doctors are on the ball.

Just saw this post…others have provided great suggestions.  I have been going to Dana Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI) in Boston since 2008.  One of my original doctors at Dana Farber who lead a trial that I was involved in,  went on to Princess Margaret in Toronto. Dr. Marcus Butler, Head of Immune Monitoring Team. I am forever grateful for the care and compassion that I received from him while he was at DFCI.
