The waiting is the hardest.  Try not to go to the worst possible outcome.

My husband has both brain and lung Mets and has had a persistent cough since November. He always tells the doctors he’s fine too or blames it on a cold. I find he’s often in denial about his symptoms. He also has tremors when attempting fine motor skills such as writing but they used to be a lot worse before getting on steroids. I hope your fiance’s scans come back clear.

Got results and pet scan and mri were clear the surgery he had to remove tumor and axillary lymph node was successful but we are going to a melanoma specialist at clevland clinic for a second opinion and for treatment options regular oncologist said that even though nothing showed on scans there could be cancer cells floating around still. Im just worried its gonna come back. To have been diagnosed stage 3 and have surgery and it be gone just seems unreal considering his tumor and lymph node grew as big as they did with in 6 months but i guess thats why they do treatment

      Hi,

I have recently been told of progression to lungs but no signs or symptoms like cough, shortness of breath etc. He could just have a bit of asthma or cough in relation to inhaled irritants etc

Tremors can be caused by nerves, other conditions or as a side effect of drugs.  However , we are not always best placed to assess the importance of symptoms and you should encourage him to report symptoms and changes as they may be related to either melanoma or treatment. For now I would hang on until you get the scan results as that is enough to deal with in one day. The difficulty with melanoma is that it can show up in so many placesin the body-it has its favoured places but can cause problems in unusual ways too.

Do you go with him to appointments ? Ifso may be you get the chance to mention the cough etc.

Best wishes and fingers crossed for the scan

Several weeks before i was diagnosed with 7 mets in my lungs I had developed an itchy upper lung couch and a sharp pain in my right upper lung. 2 weeks after my first combo I knew it was working because both cough and pain were gone.
