Is LDH testing done prior to stage IV? My hubby had a brain mri fo which we haven’t gotten the results from yet but the doctor did suddenly order an LDH test after the scan. Currently being restaged. Initially stage was 2b. Now with very large lymph nodes we know hes at least 3b.

    Thanks in advance.

It's pretty standard to check ldh levels, so i wouldn't presume it's because they are susspecting anything, it's just another test that can bring some information about where you stand at the moment… It's not by any means a reliable information on it's own…

just breathe and stay calm… There are many options if you should need them!

keeping my fingers crossed that everything will be ok!

Hi Patrisa. Thanks for the reply. Im just frustrated waiting. Knowing they are doing tests to restage him and not having the answers yet is hitting me hard. I can only imagine what he feels right now. They have now booked a FNA of the orange size lymph node and for Tuesday and we see the surgeon Wednesday to discuss CLND.

Hello Janis, The LDH testing is a blood test that is an indicaton of Tumor loading ( from what I know) .  During my treatment I would have the test results and watched the number go down over the corse of the treatment.  I dont know what numbers you will start at or  what the treatment will do to influence the results.    I have just watched and felt better as the numbers generally went down.   They did go up silghtly from time to time but the trend was downward.   I dont know what is considerd High or Low I think it varies for everyone.

      I'm stage 4 with  Ipi/Nivo treatment ( responding …  )

      Hope all goes well.

Hi Chris. Thanks for the reply. May I ask how you felt when the numbers were higher? Trying to determine what symptoms a person would have with a high LDH. Thanks in advance.
