I don't know if these are melanoma specific, but there is the Cancer Wellness Center (Northbrook, Grayslake) that has support groups and free counseling services, and there is also Gilda's Club Chicago which offers free programs, including cancer support groups, for people living with cancer and their families and friends.  Probably some hospitals have groups if you contact their social workers, etc…  Perhaps some Chicago based melanoma charities such as Skin of Steel might also have some resources or know of groups

The Affiliate Directory for Cancer Support Communities lists GC Chicago at 312.464.9900.  Its supposed to be a state listing of support groups available.  There is also a state social work representative who should have a list of available support groups: Maureen Ann Brinkman, LCSW, OSW-C, 630-352-5408 or email at maureenbrinkman@cdh.org.  Hope this helps.
