My wife was diagnosed today with stage 4B melanoma. Primary location in mid back but heavy in right armpit lymph and several spots in R lung.
We live in Michigan but are moving to Houston next week so we can go to MD Anderson. I'm hoping there are trials there that might give us a chance. So many details to work through with the move AND the medical stuff!!!!

You will be in good hands. Trust in God. Check out Zelboraf and anti PD1 trials. There is hope

So sorry you have received this report. It is daunting and frightening, we know… but there is indeed hope. There is much I do not know about her situation but I can say that, thank God, I was diagnosed as stage 4 back in 2005, and am currently rejoicing over a clear scan report. Will be praying for you both…

I was dx'ed stage 4 in 2009. I have been doing anti pd-1 and have been NED 2 years 5 months. I go to Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa. WE moved from North Dakota to do my trial. I am in the booster phase now and only have 3 infusions of Anti PD-1 to do. I get one on Sept 5 and then I will just have 2. I get them now only once every 3 months. Be positive!! Also if MDA doesn't have Anti PD 1 I know Moffitt still has a few openings although they seem to fill up fast.

Zelboraf is only a possibility if one has the BRAF DNA mutation in ones Melanoma tumors. Has this test been run yet? The Anti-PD-1 is expected to be both more effective and to work against many other types of melanoma's.
Know what you mean about the learning curve! A whole new language to learn!
MDA is a good place to go. Let us know who is your Melanoma specialist there. They have some Good ones.
While stage IV is serious and y'all are in for a battle, don't give up early Y'all sound like fighters.
Read Charley's post above. He went to Stage IV 16 years ago and has seldom if ever been NED since then, but he is still living, learning and fighting the fight.
This is a good group of people that like to h help others.
Feel open to ask any questions you like, to complain, moan, pray. We've been through it too.
