Forums General Melanoma Community Chat and posting

I have learned that we are having some issues with this site.   Some posts take a long time to show up, resulting in duplicate submissions.  And Chat has been a challenge.

I am sorry to hear this is happening.  Chat, in particular, holds a dear place in my heart.  When I first started with MRF I spent a fair amount of time in late night chat sessions and learned a great deal about melanoma and, more importantly, the melanoma community.

I want to assure you that we will get this fixed.  I am pushing the IT person who works on these issues to resolve it quickly.  I had a note an hour or so ago that a fix had been implemented.  Shortly after that I tried to open Chat from three different browsers and none of them worked–clearly a bad sign.

Please hang with us a bit longer and hopefully we can get this resolved soon.  Again, I apologize for this problem.

Tim, Great, I am so glad you are looking into the problem! I am very computer challenged, but I have a quick question/suggestion already mentioned by another, is there anyway we can do Chat from an IPad? I am very fast on my IPad, hardly ever sit at my desktop computer anymore, and would love to chat from the IPad. Just curious?? Thanks again for all you do, this site has been my lifeline! Thanks for your attention to the problem Tim,
As one of the few that only have Dial-up access, I wonder if some of the timing for getting into Chat or to short for the downloading of the initial entry into chat. Lately from home, it has often taken me an hour or more to get in. Sometimes I have tried for several hours without getting in.
When t the library (a gallon of gas drive away) I usually can get in, in less than a minute. (Haven’t been up to getting to the library much lately.)
I have been trying to open chat for over 6 minutes now. the first five minutes I never got past Zero in the downloading. I closed the window and within seconds got to 8% then the % loading went blank. and the window went back to the General MPIP screen. Finally got in in the popup after 14 minutes !! @0154.

        Hi, Jerry-

Based on what you have attempted and achieved not only with the melanoma but with the dial-up, too, I would say that "Persistent and Determined" must be your middle name! smiley

My wife shortens that down to just "STUBBORN". Only took me 60 seconds to get into chat today!!

Maybe dial-up is the key, Jerry, because I can't get in at all now.  3 different browsers, all fail.  I never used to have problems but it looks like most are locked out now until they do some type of update.
