Hi there,
I’ve been on opdivo for stage 3c nodular melanoma since the middle of last October. I just had a ultrasound done on my right armpit (where my cancer spread to) and it showed one enlarged lymph node. Could this be due to the opdivo causing inflammation? My oncologist wasn’t worried about it being cancer, but I’ll be meeting with my surgeon soon to go over the ultrasound in more detail soon. Just wanting some reassurance I guess.

Hi, my mother is on a trial – spartalizumab (new immunotherapy drug) + Taf/Mek for a year. Her scans in November showed more than 10 enlarged lymph nodes in her chest and all the rest clear, so her oncologist suggested it might be inflammation and wanted another scan in 3 months. She had CT in the end of Jan which showed that the nodes reduced in size. She is having PET/CT next week so let's hope they are completely gone and it was due to immunotherapy. Good luck!

Absolutely! I can't tell you how many enlarged lymph nodes I dealt with throughout my treatment. My oncologist would keep a closer eye on those that were in areas where I previously had melanoma and would be less worried about those in random areas. Majority of the time I would have a scan and show a few enlarged lymph nodes and then 3 months later at the next scan they would be back down to normal size and maybe a new one would be enlarged. Lymph nodes are just very sensitive and will get inflammed easily, especially with these treatments.
