Bone pain is cyclical?

Forums General Melanoma Community Bone pain is cyclical?

I have pain in one leg and in my hip lower back that seems to come and go on an almost lunar cycle. Does anyone have any insight into this so I can do some research into diet and maybe the prognostic significance of this?

I'm being told my bones are not lighting up on PET anymore, which feels like great news, but is weird juxtaposed with the continued pain.

If you listen to peeps who work in Labor and Delivery or ER…you will find that they think lots of things are cyclical!!!  The same can be said for many folks dealing with various arthritic conditions.  Glad your PET is negative!!!  I don't have any great wisdom to offer, but I would imagine that since the areas you note were the site of prior mets it is going to take some time for the bone and surrounding nerves to heal completely.  As to the cyclical nature of the pain you are experiencing maybe it is the moon or perhaps you do a certain activity periodically flares things up on a cyclical basis?  Sometimes getting my kiddo's and parents to keep an activity log over a month or so helps me figure out the origin of pain….whether we are talking headaches or pain elsewhere.

I wish you my best.  celeste

Nothing super useful to offer, but if you had bone mets that are dead, have you received any bone-strengthening or related medications?  Sometimes, even while the lesions are dead, their havoc can take a long time to heal and you can end up in a similar position to osteoporis or other bone deficiencies.  It's worth asking about IMO because bone pain is really really hard to deal wtih on a regular basis.

Additionally, it may be worth talking to your doc about calcium and magnesium supplements – ymmv.
