Anyone on Yervoy/ Zelboraf combo trial?

Quick question – is anyone on the Yervoy/Zelboraf combination trial?  It's being offered at Dana Farber, UCLA and Sloan.  It looks like prior Zelboraf is an exclusion, but we are not sure.  Here's the link and information from UCLA's Jonsson Cancer Center:

Jeff is now on Zelboraf and doing well (side effects are mild), but we would like to have a real secure Plan B in place and this trial looks promising.  Also, has anyone heard of a Zelboraf/Anti-Pd 1 trial coming up?

      Thanks,

        Hi Bridgett,

This is my oldest daughters name too only we spell it Bridget.  I lost my first post to you so am trying again.  I hAVE Been fighting stage 4 melanoma since July of of 2011.  I have, had brain mets, liver mets, lung mets.  I have been treated with WBR, targeted SRS, Yervoy 3 doses bfore disease forced a change to Zelboraf.  Been on Zelboraf for 7 months but my liver numbers began to climb slowly about  5 weeks ago and Brain lesions do not allow me in the trial since they are not stable.  But I am staying on ZElboraf as I am reintruduced to Yervoy.  Second infision due tomorrow. not part of trial but running out of options so we are taking risk in doing so.  I will try to keep you updated on this.

Best of luck to you and your son.

            Hi Kathy D.

My mom wanted to be "fancy" so she spelled my name with an extra "t" and an "e"!!  HA!!

Will insurance allow you to do both?  I thought that they only will approve 1 treatment and not both together (thus the trial option).  My son has been fighting since January 2011 (actually was misdiagnosed in 2006, but that's another story) – stage 3 back then and went to stage 4 in February.  He is young (will be 32 on Saturday) and has 3 kids under the age of 6.  I hate this disease so much and we are trying to fight it with everything we have.  I would do anything for him – he is a wonderful kid ( always has been) and we love him so much.

I hope this combo works for you, and maybe it will work for him if he gets into the trial.   Please keep us updated on how it is going and how you are feeling.  You are in my thoughts and prayers.  Keep fighting – I know they are going to find a cure real soon 🙂

            Take care,

            Bridgette

SOrry I see the e on the end now. My children are 32, 30 and 21. I Married young at 17, with the same man. We have 4 granddaughters too. I am 51 now. My dr was concerned about the insurance approval too but we got it! Not sure if it is because I moved to Cobra or because health insurance changed in bTween IPI either way it took a week of fighting to get through. I am glad. Zelboraf is mailed once a month from the specialty pharmacy so we worry that at some point one or theother will be shut off. Sure hope not it is so expensive.
Good luck to all of you.

We have had wbr in nov. Changed drs in dec started ippi in jan. Finished in march had first scan that showed growth and shrinkage but dr wants to star zelbraf. We are waiting on it to be mailed. We are also doing targeted srs under arm because dr thinks it may boost ippi into working faster. We had gamma knife in feb also.

Mrs. Bridgette please tell me what to expect with zelbraf.

                            Hi Bikerwife,

My son has been on Zelboraf since March 29th and he's doing very well.  Side effects are mild – rash on hands, itchy skin, sore joints (which goes away when he gets up and starts moving) and slight neuropathy in feet.  He is on the maximum dose – 4 pills in the morning and 4 pills at night.  He will have his body scans at the end of month and a brain MRI tomorrow – we are praying, praying, praying for good news.

Good luck to you.  I hope you have a good reponse with the combination of radiation, zelboraf and ippi.  Please keep us updated:)
