My husband is stage 4 with three subcutaneous sites and one that is on the vein leading to his pancreas. He went on Ipi after no results with il2 and not qualifying for BRAF. He has been on Ipi for 12 weeks and one of his sites has tripled in size and is now painful. Our doctor thinks it's "swollen" because the Ipi has stimulated his immune system to attack it. I don't like the "wait and see" approach so wondering if anyone can share their experience. I would rather take action if the most common experience is that the Ipi didn't

Thanks

It is well known that inflammation and growth is the norm with Ipi – it gets worse before it gets better. I am sure others will chime in and confirm.
These images from Bristol Myers Squibb show it pretty clearly – http://pharmastrategyblog.com/2010/03/ipilimumab-from-bms-looks-like-an-interesting-new-melanoma-drug.html/
See Week 12 = swelling and progression. It takes time for it to work.
All my best to you and your husband.
