What is the best hope for small nodular metastatic melanoma that originated as mucosal (anus)

Are these smaller nodular types more diffucult to treat?

There are a few of us out here. : )  My own specialist told me they do not necessarily differentiate between nodular versus superficial spreading anymore in any meaningful way; it is all malignant melanoma, mucosal versus cutaneous.  Much depends on whether the melanoma is more slow or fast growing, and I believe it is true that the superficial spreading type is more likely to be slow growing than the nodular type because it can have a longer period of horizontal versus vertical growth.  I can't say with 100% certainty but my impression is that treatment tends now to be based more on things such as whether the melanoma is BRAF or KIT positive or negative, etc.  I believe the anti-PD1 drugs, especially in combination with ipi (Yervoy) have had some very positive results.   Am sure there are others here more knowledgeable than myself.  Hope you are being seen by a melanoma specialist at a major treatment center because this is a field that is changing rapidly.  Wishing you well.
