    Hi,

I was wondering if anyone can offer me information or experience, I was diagnosed with stage 1a melanoma on my back in July 2012, which I had surgery for and no other treatment which I was very thankful for that it was caught very early on, I have now noticed 2 swollen lymph nodes in my neck, they are not huge but I can feel they are swollen, has anyone had a reoccurance or spreading of Melanoma stage 1a?

    Thanks for reading x

It's very rare… particularly given your time span in between… but it does happen. That said, swollen lymph nodes could be just about anything, including minor infections. Keep tabs on them, but in the meantime, schedule an appointment with your family doc. They can run some blood labs to rule out possible infections. Hopefully the nodes will go back down to normal size, soon, and you'll have no further concerns. 🙂  Do you have seasonal allergies?

Thank you for your reply Niki, I have been to the docs and they have said there is nothing to worry about. Thank god.

That’s great news. It’s normal to be hyper sensitive to every bump and lump after a diagnosis. I was convinced lumps in my neck were cancer … No my Thyroid was failing and I had spent 3 years not knowing my TSH was rising.

a and b usually also reffer to characteristics of the stage and a is better than b.

Ask for the clarification on your TNM numbers for reassurance if you see Nzero and Mzero (T1aN0M0) it means it hasn’t spread at all.
