Can anyone recommend a melanoma specialist here?  I have an appointment with a doc in a practice that is described as skin cancer specialists, but seeing the background of the doc does not make me feel sure that this is really the best choice.

A few years ago Kevin went to someone in Emory but I can't remember the Drs name.   I drive from Anderson SC to Charlotte NC.   As Kevin's became more aggressive he drove to Nasville. There are a few melanoma specialists there in Sarah Cannon Center and Vanderbilt.

I go to Emory and see Dr. Delman(surgeon) and Dr. Lawson(medical oncologist).  I love Delman.  He loves me too! Both are melanoma specialists.  I did my high dose of interferon at the Longstreet Clinic in Gainesville.  Too far to drive to Emory everyday.  Both groups worked together well.  Good luck to you! Prayers

Were you not eligible/interested in the clinical trials?  Were you checked for braf?  I have read that interferon has some unpleasant side effects.

Never mind, I looked at your profile and saw the reasons.  Don't understand why that would affect your melanoma treatment though.

Was told yervoy was not an option due to my colitis. Apparently colitis is a potential side effect. At the time i had never heard the term braf. I have learned a lot since. Interferon is not fun but it is doable. I went back and forth on whether or not to do it but like a lot of us, i just wasn’t comfortable doing nothing. I’m young. At least i consider myself to be young(39). Plus i’m in good physical shape. I think that has helped me tolerate it.

I'm sorry.  Got that wrong about interferon.  It was interleuken I meant, that has the side effects.  Can you tell I am a newby?  So much to learn.
