i have known a few cases of rudeness and ill treatment on the BB.  This is not the norm.  This group of people is the most undertnding and compassionate group that I have ever met.   We made it to Colorado tuesday with only one day of tire trouble and then  Laura Downs, whose husband died from melanoma in May 2010 came over to visit us.  She is a wonderful compassionate young lady with a delightful 2 year old daughter that is studyig to be an Oncological Nurse to help in the fight against what melanoma is doing to so many of our group.  She was much appreciated by my wife last year when I was in the Denver and Springs hospitals.  She was very helpful and gracious in spite of having just lost her husband and the father that loved his baby girl so much.

We received so many great messages and help from you people.  They were read to me, even though I was unconcious then. (Acutally I have just been findiing more of the messages from then.)  Tanya did a great job of saving everything for me as well as keeping y'all informed of my status.  And people from Colorado visited me in the hospitals out here.  I had never met these people in person before, just thru the MPIP BB and chat..    As I discussed with Laura, It is amazing the closeness that we can develop with each other going through this struggle.  And most amaziing is the wonderful people that we encounter on this journal.

Jerry, there's no describing how worried we all were about you back then! It was absolutely horrifying seeing the pictures of you in the hospital!

It was very difficult to wrap our brains around it all, to see a man who had fought so long and valiantly against this horrible disease struck down by something so sudden and unpredictable as a being ~dragged by a horse~!!!

You be careful out there this year honeypie. I see you managed to avoid both the earthquake in VA AND the one in CO..so maybe you are on a lucky streak.

We're so glad you lived through it all and are still with us Jerry.

Hey guy!!   Yeah, we've had some @$$holes on here, and regretfully, I've been one myself more times than I can count, but overall this is a great community!!

In the past 10-1/2 years since I've been here (minus a 9-month hiatus due to a couple of those jerks), I've always said if there's anything GOOD about melanoma, it's the people I've met here and in real-life: warriors, survivors, caregivers, and those who lost their battles (but WON the war!)—-our Angels!  I have been sooo blessed by sooo many!   Who'da thunk it?  That something great could come from a melanoma cancer board?  I've made some of the best friends here (forever friends)!  Yes, I've lost many forever friends, too, but….I'd never have met them in the first place if it weren't for 'melasuckanoma'!!   Blessed and my life enriched because of the MPIP.

At first I was hesitant to meet anyone from here—first, because I was scared outta my mind with my own diagnosis, and second, because I knew I would get really close to a lot of people (those "forever friends" again) and lose them.  There are too many I've loved and lost to name, but I have to say Glenda Davis was probably my 'bestest' friend here.  We bonded because we both were from Arkansas (wooo—pig—sooooie, GO Razorbacks!), and we talked almost every single day, sometimes several times a day.  She was so wise and I learned so much from her.  Though she was old enough to have been my mama, we talked about EVERYTHING—there was nothing we felt uncomfy talking about (from sex to her smoking and growing pot, and all in between!)  hahah!  I only saw her a 1/2-dozen times; we went to 3 melanoma "bashes" (twice in Asheville, NC, then she rode with my mom and me to Michigan)—-she was Thelma and I was Louise!  We had a BLAST!  She could make me laugh so hard my face would literally hurt!  I visited with her in her home a couple of times, but the hardest thing I ever had to do was sing at her service.   She'll be gone 5 yrs in October, and I miss her every single day.

Anyhooooo….enough of that.  Enjoy your time in Colorado, and would you PLEASE, PURDY PLEASE, STAY OFF HORSES THIS TIME??   =)   Love and *hugz*
