Hey Warriors,
I completed lucky #13 of Pembro treatments and true to form some thyroid issues emerged on the labs..nothing that requires correction yet, hopefully just a blip following a long B-day weekend in Vegas, but its my first anomally on labs since starting all of this.
I hope this finds you all fighting hard, living harder, and warrioring on!
Tex

Hi, I have been wondering how you are doing. Good to hear you are well. Happy Belated Birthday. My husband has his third infusion of Opdivo next Friday and then we are going on Vacation the next day. He has been feeling good and he sleeps really well, I hope he doesn't develop any side effects while we are away, I am a little nervous about that. His doctor said he should be just fine and we should enjoy ouselves. Keep taking care of yourself.

Sounds good. A little ahead of you, #16 for me tomorrow. How are the side effects?

Hi Bill,
So far the side effects have been very manageable. I still get fatigue for a few days after treatment. Starting at treatment 11 I started to notice some mild joint pain but nothing terrible. Aside from the recent fluctuation in thyroid, nothing serious at all. How about with you?

Hi Tex, #16 is in the books. Side effects seemed to increase around infusion 7. Fatigue and joint pain, all manageable. Sometimes hard to distinguish between damage inflicted upon myself in younger days and being older, or both acting together. Have your doctors at MDA discussed how long they will continue treatment?

I agree Bill, sometimes I wonder if its my younger days as a paratrooper and hard knocks, the Pembro, or likely a combination of the two? My team says they are looking at going the "full two years" on this as long as I'm tolerating it. How abour your team, are they saying two years also?

Hi Tex, they feel I can stop now (actually they believe I could’ve stopped at the end of January). It will be one year the beginning of August since I started treatment, and beginnng of October since NED. I’m contemplating the end of the year, but might continue. Very hard decision to make.
the doctors feel since I had such a quick complete response the benefit of the treatment is complete and I’m just increasing my chances of long term side effects. Like MDA, MSK is a top facility with some very big name melanoma specialists but there isn’t any large scale clinical trials to back up their recommendation even though I feel they are correct.

Great to hear from you. Hopefully, this works for you. I have had to switch to Yervoy…my backpocket savings.
