      Hi there,

After my melanoma was found to have spread to lungs in September last year, I started IPI treatment. But after four rounds of medication, evaluations showed that meds did not work as two brain lesions had occured.

I was then put on PD1 treatment with Nivoumab. After just two rounds of treatment, I started developing vitiligo which has proven to be the sole side effect I am experiencing with any of these two drugs. Vitiligo is spreading in facial hair and body hair and my oncos told me they had read research saying this was shown to be a good sign in battling melanoma. I had some responses to a previous post on my latest evaluation results which showed significant reductions in all my lesions, with one brain lesion having disappered altogether (these were treated with Gammaknife intervention which should explain part of this). Some of the responses included links to article on a possible connection between melanoma resistance and vitiligo.

      Good luck,

      Magnus

        Hi Magnus!

I'm soon to have my 14th infusion of Keytruda.  After about 3 infusions I too had Vitiligo as a side effect.  My eyebrows and eyelashes are snow white.  My doctor was pleased to see that response.  I have some on my face too, but I'm so fair that it's not very noticeable. I'm doing well…much of my melanoma has resolved and the rest is shrinking.  I'll have a PET soon to see where I stand.

        Best Wishes to you!

        Hi Terrie,

thanks for sharing the good news. I am happy to hear your lesions are shrinking! I have my new 2 month check-up tomorrow and hoping for the best. And as far as vitiligo is concerned… Bring it on!

        Best,

        Magnus
