This is my fourth battle w cancer. My first melanoma was in 1997, simple stage I. In 2010 a mole appeared and grew quickly near my right temple, was removed and diagnosed as melanoma again. A sentinel node biopsy was preformed and 6 nodes were removed and considered clean. In 2011 I developed thyroid cancer and during the pre-op X-ray a mass was discovered in my lung. Later biopsy would determine it was metastatic melanoma related to the 2010 melanoma. I truly thank God for the thyroid cancer because I was completely asymptomatic to the tumor in my lung and the 13 in my brain. All my doctors agree we caught the cancer extremely early.
