<p>I had a particularly nasty scar on my lower leg after a WLE for in-situ and opted for laser treatment.</p>
<p>They tend to leave lower leg WLE&#8217;s open (no stitches so the wound heals from an open/unstitched state). This scar was about the size of a nickel with a distinct depression into my skin. <p>I have had multiple thin primaries. Since mine have never been new lesions, and do not visibly change to my eye, but clearly must be changing on the molecular level, I&#8217;m thinking of getting a dermascope to help with my monthly skin checks.</p>

<p>My regular derm says he can do the WLE. but I&#8217;ve heard going to a specialist who does this day in and day out might be a smarter way of going.</p>

<p>I too recently read some of the same type of articles. A melanoma pathology is not binary at all, but more a &#8220;possibly&#8221; based on indicators.</p>

<li>I have always had &#8220;higher risk&#8221; skin (&gt; ave # of moles, dysplastic moles, very fair, sun &#8220;worshiping&#8221; when I was young) so my derm has always removed a mole here and there for many years at every visit. She literally walked&hellip;</li>

									<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>10 years ago my derm removed a smaller than a pencil eraser &#8220;ugly duckling&#8221; mole I had since I was a teenager. It had not changed in 30+ years. It turned out to be a thin melanoma. Fortunately it had 0 mitosis and no ulceration.</p>
<p>5 years ago, they found a melanoma in situ&#8230;same story..no change since I was a teenager.</p>
