Although my journey is vastly different from your wife’s (I am not Braf+), I want you to know my local oncologist (not a specialist) was not willing to give me prednisone when I was experiencing a myriad of inflammation and joint issues. I emailed Dr. Jeffrey Weber, whom I last saw in 2012! He responded that 5mg of daily prednisone…Read more

Hi Everyone! I am a stage 3 melanoma warrior since 2009! It’s been quite a ride. The only option for treatment in 2009 was interferon and it had unbearable side effects and melanoma returned shortly after my month of treatment. I’ve had too many surgeries to count, a clinical trial, Imlygic, Opdivo, and I’m currently receiving Yervoy. I’ve been…Read more

Thank you, Edwin for the quick response. I am hoping my doc suggests resuming Opdivo. I did have to take 5mg of prednisone with it as my joints ached and my extremities swelled. I now deal with osteoporosis from 2 years of prednisone. Well worth it though.

Hoping Bubbles or someone who keeps up with melanoma treatment advances has some insight. Today after almost 3 years of NED a PET scan showed a large lesion (I can feel it on the surface of my leg.) I’ll be heading to my specialist hopefully in the New Year. I’ve had numerous surgeries, TVec and then Opdivo throughout this journey.

Hi!

Nodular melanoma diagnosis 2009 with at least 8 recurrences-I lost count. I completed 2 years Opdivo October 2020. My November scan showed no active disease but I have learned how sneaky melanoma can be. No organ involvement just all over my right leg. Just stay vigilant. Grateful for all my BONUS time.
